Can you mix sexy with ghosts?

If you're Sky Purington, the answer is YES!!! Ooooh how I love a good ghost story! The wait is over!

If you love series like SyFy’s Ghost Hunters and The Travel Channel’s, Ghost Adventures with a healthy dose of edge-of-your-seat paranormal romance than you'll LOVE Sky Purington's new story, The Victorian Lure (Calum’s Curse: Ardetha Vampyre). As an added bonus,a few characters from this very talented author's The Maclomain Series make an appearance in this trilogy. After all, Calum is the son of one of it’s main characters!

Blurb
Is it true love or is the magnetic pull just another part of the Victorian's lure?

Dakota Allerton depends on no one but herself, but then she's never needed a ghost hunter. When her dream home becomes a house of horrors that is holding her hostage, her only hope is a Scotsman who investigates the paranormal.

The supernatural is nothing Leathan Stewart can't handle. However, trapped in Dakota's cursed Victorian home, he finds himself falling back in time. Only those who persevere can survive the dark domination.

Fear has a way of drawing two people together but so does the need to be loved. Dakota and Leathan must fight against unknown enemies, discover the secrets of Calum's Curse and defeat a vampire bent on finishing the legacy it began.

SEXY EXCERPT
Standing within inches, the smile he bestowed made her grasp the counter behind. If she didn't know better, she'd swear he must be the poster boy for the Scottish Highlands. Her mind drifted once more to the sight of his backside. Dakota couldn't help but wonder if he'd ever worn a kilt. Did they even wear those there anymore? Probably not. As if she was into guys wearing skirts anyway... please.

"Like it light and sweet?" He asked.

"What?"

"Your coffee."

Of course that's what he meant. After all, no such thing as a light and sweet kilt! She chuckled. He cocked his head.

"You should laugh more often, Dakota," he murmured, still standing close.

"I should?"

"Aye, lass."

The way he said it-brogue soft and full of encouragement-made her find the counter with her other hand. Full support was needed. Lord. Only ten hours ago, no, two, she had found him obnoxious and overbearing.

Now she wasn't so sure.

"Was I right about the coffee?" he asked.

Coffee? Right, light and sweet. "Yeah, how'd you know?"

His eyes fell to her lips. "Just a feeling."

"Good feeling," she said softly. The room faded away. Idle chatter vanished. She liked the sensual cut of his lower lip. The edges curved down a bit, as though he spent too much time frowning. His top lip was carved into strong slopes. She imagined running her tongue between his lips, tracing the smooth edges. Where had that thought come from?

When he leaned across to set his mug on the counter, he came so close she could smell a fresh, soapy spice burn from his skin. Or was that the candle? He was so tall, lips so close. If she only moved forward a fraction, closed the distance, would his lips taste as good as they looked?

Alisha here again...woohoooo...Good Lawdy! I'm still fanning myself. What a hot ass description of his lips! Holy shit! **clearing my throat*** Okay, sorry. I rarely cuss on my blog...but I couldn't help it! I gotta go buy my copy. Happy release day to my beauiful friend, Sky! Sending you a big, fat virtual Texan hug!

Happy 11-11-11 and Happy Veterans Day to all our brave soldiers all over the world who have fought for this great country in year's past and who are fighting today.

An Interview with a Werewolf!

Alisha: Please welcome Karilyn Bentley to my blog today! Your guests were kinda chummy in the green room. Is it a full moon or what?

Karilyn: Hi Alisha, Thank you for having us visit with you today! I’ve brought along special guests, the hero and heroine from my novella, Wolf Mates. Please welcome Zane and Margie.

ZANE AND MARGIE: Thank you for having us blog with you!

KARILYN: Thank you for coming! Zane, let’s start with you. Tell us a bit about yourself.

ZANE: Until I met Margie, I was an enforcer in my pack. Hated the job since the pack’s alpha controlled us. You’ll have to read to find out more about what a *** Sid was.

MARGIE (elbowing ZANE): Hon, I think this is a PG-13 blog. You probably shouldn’t use those kinds of words.

ZANE: Sorry. But it’s an accurate description.

KARILYN: I know, but Margie’s right. I’m glad that you are no longer in that pack.

ZANE: Not as glad as I am.

KARILYN: So, Margie, please tell us a bit about you.

MARGIE: Gladly. I’m the London, Montana pack’s alpha. Yes, I know it’s odd for a female to be an alpha, you don’t have to look at me like that. You’d be amazed at how many werewolves come visit a single female alpha’s pack. We still get some coming to take a look and I’ve been mated for months now.

KARILYN: Sounds like you enjoy the job.

MARGIE: Very much so. I run a good pack, right down to the young pups.

KARILYN: It’s so nice to hear when people enjoy their jobs. Let’s go back to Zane. Tell us what you first thought of when you saw Margie.

ZANE: I smelled her first and knew she was my mate. I was injured at the time and was out of it. When I woke and saw her, I thought she was the best looking woman ever. Then she got pissed at me.

KARILYN: I’m glad to see she’s no longer upset with you. Margie, what about you? What did you first think when you saw Zane?

MARGIE: This is a bit embarrassing, but my first thought was oh no, I don’t need a mate. I knew he was my mate from the way I reacted to his scent, but it was so hard to let go of my pack. It’s worked out pretty well though.

ZANE: Just pretty well?

KARILYN: Moving on. Zane, what was the best thing Margie ever did for you?

ZANE: If I say that, it’ll give the story away. Mating me is right up there, so I’ll say that instead. She mated me and took me into her life.

KARILYN: Aw, that’s sweet. I’m glad it worked out for you. Margie, what about you? What was the best thing Zane did for you?

MARGIE: He defers most of the pack’s decisions to me. A lot of alpha males wouldn’t, but he doesn’t seem to mind. It might sound silly, but being able to lead my, I mean our, pack, is very important to me.

ZANE: And it’s hot, babe, hot. I like watching you lead.

KARILYN (fanning face): Okay, it’s getting a bit warm in here. Zane, is there anything you’d change about Margie?

ZANE: I love her just the way she is. But I would change her position right now. Come here, babe and—

KARILYN: Okay, okay. PG-13 blog remember? None of that. Margie, is there anything you’d change about Zane?

MARGIE: I have to admit, I do agree with him about the changing position thing. But we are on a blog. So, my only complaint is that he leaves the toilet seat up. I fell in the other night. It wasn’t pleasant.

ZANE: I said I’d work on it.

MARGIE: I know. Karilyn asked, so I had to answer.

KARILYN: Well, our time is up. It looks like you are about to have a good evening. But before we go, is there anything else you’d like to tell the readers?

ZANE: Tell them thank you for checking out our story.

MARGIE: We hope they enjoy it.

KARILYN: Thank you for stopping by! Hope you have a good trip home.

Excerpt

“Hey, in there. I’m going to open the door. Don’t even think about taking me down.” As if he could. If she knew he was her mate, she assumed he could sense that she was his. And a male would never hurt his mate. Although if he wanted to take her down and sex her senseless she wouldn’t oppose him.
Pull it together, Margie! How can you think of sex at a time like this?
She shook her head-who would have thought meeting her mate would cause sexual thoughts to overwhelm her common sense-and rapped on the door. “Do you hear me?”
“I do. Why am I locked in?”
She liked his voice. Maybe she could get him to speak more just to hear the melodious rumble as it crossed her skin. By the saints, what was she thinking? Hello, Margie, pull your head out of your hormones and channel your inner alpha.
After she pushed the code into the keypad, she turned the knob and pushed open the door. Spilled soup lay in twisting rivulets across the floor, flowing from the broken bowl. The tray lay behind the mess. Zane stood in front of the bed, arms crossed, completely naked with the exception of a silver torc around his neck. Oh yeah, she could get used to the eye candy. It was impressive.
Eye contact, Margie, eye contact.
Like meeting his eyes helped. Black brows and thick lashes framed amber eyes that gleamed with questions. Sleep-tussled black hair shot through with silver and tan hung in waves to his shoulders. Above a white bandage wrapped around his middle, tight curls dusted his chest and below the bandage the curls led in a trail from his navel to...
Eyes, Margie, eyes.

Karilyn Bentley Interviews the Hero and Heroine of Magical Lover! And A Chance to Win A Book!

Pleaes welcome Karilyn Benley to my blog today! Very excited to have you here today, Karilyn!

Hi Alisha,
Thank you for having me here today. I have brought along special guests, the hero and heroine of Magical Lover. Please welcome Thoren and Keara.

THOREN AND KEARA: Thank you for having us!

KARILYN: Thank you for coming. Thoren, tell us a bit about you.

THOREN: I’m a Draconi. For those of you that haven’t met a Draconi, we’re a race of shapeshifting dragons from the land of Draconia. When I first met Keara I worked for the Council as a reconnaissance specialist, or as you might call it, a spy.

KARILYN: Oh my. I bet you have a lot of adventure stories to tell.

THOREN: I do. Unfortunately, I’m not supposed to speak of them.

KARILYN: I understand. Keara, it’s your turn. Tell us a bit about you.

KEARA: Well, I’m an apothecary by training. My grandmother was an apothecary and she taught me the knowledge and skill. That was before I met Thoren, though. When he told me I was a Halfling, half Draconi and half human, I left my apothecary shop behind and traveled with him to Draconia. I’ve learned new skills now.

KARILYN: I’m glad things have worked out for you and that it’s better than where you were. Ok, Thoren, back to you. When you think back to when you first saw Keara, what comes to mind?

THOREN: I wanted to kill the man that held her.

KARILYN: I mean, what did you notice about Keara.

THOREN: Sorry. Her beauty. How the sun sparkled like rubies in her hair. The look of fear mixed with trust in her eyes as she gave me her hand.

KARILYN: Aw. That’s sweet. Keara, what about you?

KEARA: He saved me from a very bad situation. I remember his strength, the set of his jaw as he glared at Lord Simon. I was scared, but he inspired trust. I’m so glad I went with him.

THOREN: I am too.

KARILYN: I’m glad to hear it! Thoren, what is the best thing Keara ever did for you?

THOREN: She agreed to be my mate. I’d be nothing without her.

KARILYN: What about you, Keara?

KEARA: He saved me. Took me away from my village and all the people who hated me and brought me to his home. And he loves me.

KARILYN: I’m sure you love him too.

KEARA: Of course!

KARILYN: Thoren, is there anything you’d change about Keara?

THOREN: Nothing at all. I love her just the way she is.

KARILYN: Keara, is there something you’d change about Thoren?

KEARA: Well, there is one thing. I mean, I know this is just a dragon characteristic and he can’t help it, but occasionally he burps and sets the drapes on fire.

THOREN: Keara, I can’t believe you’d say that on here.

KEARA: I’m sorry, but it’s true. The poor drapes are looking rather threadbare.

KARILYN: Oh my. Well, I’m sure every relationship has issues.

KEARA: It’s all good. I wanted new drapes anyway.

KARILYN: Ok then. Is there anything else either of you would like to say before we close?

THOREN: I’d like to tell your readers thank you for listening to us today and I hope you enjoy our story.

KEARA: I echo his thoughts.

KARILYN: I appreciate your time with us today and hope you have a good journey home.

BLURBIn a world where men can become dragons, Thoren is one of the most powerful. She learned early to keep her magic hidden—her witchy red hair and green eyes are burden enough. When Thoren offers his hand in place of a forced marriage with Lord Simon, Keara jumps at the chance to leave her town behind. But she fears Thoren will shun her when he discovers the truth about her abilities. Can Thoren convince Keara she is his lifemate, or will her secret talent be the wedge that drives them apart?

Virtual Blog Tour ~ Clare Austin ~ HOT FLASH

Thank you for having me on your blog site today. I’m thrilled to be here and chat a bit about my new release, Hot Flash.
This has been an exciting year for my writing journey. I’ve had three books released since last August. Butterfly and Angel’s Share, the first two novels in my Fadá½¹ Trilogy, have been well received and I’m looking forward to finishing the last in that series soon.
Hot Flash, written before the Fadá½¹ Trilogy, was the first book I sent to publishers and agents. I felt it filled a need in a market rarely targeted…baby-boomers. To me, facing “boomerdom” myself, it felt like time. We have time to read, our children, if not grown, are independent enough to allow us a modicum of freedom and we have maturity and sophistication that only experience in life can teach. Why not a heroine turning fifty years old?
Publishers in general did not agree with my theory. So, I put Hot Flash away, wrote Butterfly and sold it almost as soon as I finished it. Angel’s Share came out just a few months later and my publisher, The Wild Rose Press, asked if I had any other stories. I submitted and sold Hot Flash.
Hot Flash is about starting over, learning to trust again and believing in one’s own value.
When this story started to form in my mind I was, literally, working out in an all women’s gym. There we were, sweating away as Cher belted out a song on the CD player, a room full of smart, beautiful, mature women. Sure, we might have a wrinkle here or there and a little cellulite on our thighs, but we know the value of relationship and never discount the virtue in good color and highlights! Though we live in a culture obsessed with youth, it is not true that it is more likely for a woman over forty to be abducted by aliens from outer space than she is to attract the hot guy. Not if we believe in ourselves.
Hot Flash is, I think, tender, full of physical and emotional challenges, but not forgetting the humor and joy that are the necessary comic relief in fiction as well as real life.
Recently I received a wonderful note from a woman in her eighties who has read all my novels. She said these are the first “romance” novels she has ever read and loves them. That kind of encouragement is precious to me. But, Hot Flash is not a book limited to any particular age group.
If you enjoy an in-depth story of relationships and the challenges of blending families, and a sizzling hot romance set in the exciting world of equestrian sport, this novel will capture your imagination and, hopefully, your heart.
I wrote Hot Flash for you. I hope you enjoy it.

“Sexy but sensitive, powerful but poignant---Hot Flash is not your daughter’s romance! This is a story for real women. Savor every word.”
---Award winning author---Deb Stover

Back cover blub…

Kate Aiello has spent her entire life trying to please others—her three brothers, her Italian mamma and her husband of twenty-five years. It isn’t insult enough she is turning fifty, and left at the side of life’s road by her philandering husband. Now she has to contend with her body’s betrayal…hot flashes!
The plain truth hits her with each thermostatic aberration—she has never been first in anyone’s life, including her own.
Brandon Sullivan has been on a downward spiral since the death of his beloved wife. Now he is a man desperate to save himself from impending financial ruin, loss of his farm and his life’s dream. He needs to get into the winner’s circle by spring or he’ll be just another poor, landless Irishmen downing his pints and bragging about the good ol’ days.
Sparks fly when Italian attitude meets Irish temper. Add two big crazy families, a barn full of horses and one woman’s menopausal hot flashes and the probability for combustion increases exponentially.
What will Kate and Brandon risk for a second chance at love?

Excerpt from Hot Flash

“So, Katie, tell me…why riding lessons?”
“It’s Kate.” She corrected him.
“What?” He looked genuinely confused.
“Kate…my name…it’s Kate, not Katie.” She wasn’t sure why it bothered her he liked to call her that. Maybe it felt a little too personal. Jeffrey had never called her anything but Catherine.
“Ah and why not? Katie suits you well, a good name for a beautiful woman.”
Nervous laughter welled up in her. “You have that ‘charming Irishman’ thing down to a fine science don’t you? Go ahead, call me anything you want.” Obviously, the man had his own opinions. It was most likely fruitless to try and correct him. She should have resented it, but his arrogance fit him like those breeches he wore. From another man, his attitude would have felt patronizing, but coming from him it was...well…titillating.
He said nothing, just looked directly into her eyes and smiled a slow, lazy grin that made Kate shiver deep in her bones.

An Interview with Debut Author, Karilyn Bentley!

Please welcome Karilyn Bentley to my blog today! I'm excited to have her here! Her werewolf tale releases this Friday!

Alisha: Can you tell us a little bit about your childhood? Favorite memories?

Karilyn: We lived in the city and didn’t have a lot of money growing up, but we had a lot of fun. Some of my favorite memories are the homemade Christmas gifts, based all on puns. Like the 12 carrot necklace. Or the years Mom and a friend crafted gifts in the shape of the 12 days of Christmas. Dad used to make up poems with clues and hide them around the house, each “clue” led to the next one and at the end was the present. I was always encouraged to make up stories and to this day Mom is really upset b/c one of my stories was never finished and she wants to know the end and I have no clue what she’s talking about.

Alisha: What wonderful memories! Tell us about the hero and heroine in your latest release.

Karilyn: Vonda and Tom. Vonda is a werewolf who is currently hoping to be a dog trainer. Tom is her first client. When his daughter is kidnapped, Tom has to rely on Vonda to help him rescue her. But there’s more to the kidnapping than meets the eye.

Alisha: I'm intrigued! If you were granted three wishes by a genie, what would they be?

Karilyn: Oh wow. I don’t know, let me think. Hmm. Eeek! My hubby just doused me with a bucket of water b/c he thought I was on fire from all that smoke coming out my ears. Ok, sorry (shakes self off). I guess I would wish for peace and happiness and to continue to have my stories published.

Alisha: If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?

Karilyn: I’d go back to Sweden with a stop-over in Scotland and Iceland. Or maybe I’d tour the National Parks. So many places, not enough money.

Alisha: If you could see anyone tomorrow (dead or alive), who would it be?

Karilyn: The first thought that popped in my head was Jesus and Buddha. Don’t ask.

Alisha: LOL...I won't touch that one. If you could choose six people to spend one week on a desert island, who would it be and why?

Karilyn: Am I there with them, or am I punishing them? Ha! Ok, I’m there with them. Hmm. Hey, hubby, put the bucket down. Down I say! Ok, where was I? Desert island. Perhaps my favorite authors. Then I could pick their minds and learn all their secrets. Bwahahahaha!

Alisha: Snort! What word or phrase tingles in all the right places for you?

Karilyn: A sentence that pulls me in and makes me become the character and feel the same things she does.

Alisha: If you had one day to spoil yourself, what would you do?

Karilyn: I’m assuming money isn’t an issue so I’d go to a spa. Get all wrapped up in seaweed and have them rub salt all over until my skin glows.

Alisha: Can I come along? Sounds like bliss! If you could change one incident in your life, what would it be and how would you change it?

Karilyn: I’d stop and help the lady having car trouble instead of thinking she was crazy (in all fairness, she was hopping around shaking a white scarf like her car was the bull and she the matador). My conscious is still beating me up over that.

Alisha: Aww. What’s the sexiest thing a man has ever done for you or said to you or both?

Karilyn: My hubby is great, but he wouldn’t like me to say what it was. One thing I will say, he’s a great cook!

Werewolves in London – in the Taming of the Wolf anthology available October 16
Excerpt

“Your dog doesn’t respect you.” Vonda reached down to scratch behind Sam’s ear. “I can help you with that problem, but I can’t help train him to herd. Do we have a deal?”
Tom took off his hat, scratched his head and slammed it back on as if to hold in steam. Judging from the color of his face, he should have let his hair wave free in the breeze. It might cool things off. One long finger pointed at Sam. One nicely shaped, work hardened finger. The list of things that finger could do to her body rushed through Vonda’s brain on fast forward. It didn’t help that the man whose finger provoked such lascivious thoughts was the best-looking thing in this little Podunk town.
Why was she thinking such thoughts? Concentrate, Vonda, concentrate! Last time she thought this way about a man she was in heat. Oh shit. Not again. No wonder Sam stuck to her like proverbial glue.
Wait. Tom’s mouth was moving. “...me?”
“Huh? I’m sorry, what did you say?” Good job Vonda, way to look stupid on your first visit with a client.
“I said, how can that dog not respect me?”
“Well, dogs see things differently than humans. If you don’t act like the alpha, then they assume they are the alpha. That’s what creates problems. That’s where I can help.”
“Yes, yes. I know. But I have other herding dogs. None of them give me problems. What’s up with that?” A frustrated green stare bored into her.
Men frustrated so easily. Humans in general. Ever see a canine with hypertension?
Sam licked her hand. Then she smelled it. The scent of a man. Not just any man. A man she wanted to mate with. A man about six four, with sandy blond, almost brown hair and green eyes. A man who stood less than three feet from her.
Damn hormones.
If she didn’t get out of here soon she’d lose any chance of ever being a dog trainer.

Karilyn: Thanks so much for letting me visit today, Alisha! I’m excited that The Wild Rose Press is releasing Werewolves in London in the Taming of the Wolf anthology coming out on October 16th. Come visit me on my blog at Karilyn's Blog

An Interview with Roni Adams and A Drawing for Her Book!

Alisha: I'm very pleased and excited to welcome Roni Adams to my blog today! Roni, Can you tell us a little bit about your childhood? Favorite memories?

Roni: I grew up in a medium sized city in a neighborhood that you could say was a throwback to easier times. People sat on front porches and the kids rode their bikes around and weren’t afraid to play outside. I am one of only two girls in my family but three houses up lived a family with three kids – two girls and a boy and so for all intents and purposes there were five kids all the time. Our two families did everything together and us kids were in and out of each other’s houses constantly. I had a 1970’s easy going memorable childhood complete with the purple bike and banana seat and watching I Dream of Jeannie and Afterschool Specials on our three TV channels.

Alisha: Sigh...I loved the 70s. I had a banana seat bike too. And I loved watching I Dream of Jeannie. Tell us about the hero and heroine in your latest release.

Roni: In Trouble in Texas (which is slated to come out in July), my heroine is Charli Boyd. She is a wild redheaded Texan. Charli, nicknamed “Good time Charli” believes that life is worth living and she lives it hard and fast. Dr. Grant Clark, is the local vet and he’s not at all interested in what she’s offering. In fact, he’s been thinking lately of settling down with a nice normal girl who will be calm and steady in his sometimes very pressured life. Unfortunately for Grant, Charli sets her sights on him and convinces him to take a walk on the wild side. But its Charli who gets taken for a ride when she loses her heart to the small town vet.

Alisha: What a great title. This book sounds too good to pass up. The wild girl falling in love with the brainy vet. I can't wait to get my hands on it. If you were granted three wishes by a genie, what would they be?

Roni: Obviously the usual stuff like good health and wealth for my family and friends, but if we’re talking frivolous wishes then I think I’d go for something fun like to own my own ranch where I could ride whenever I wanted to.

Alisha: That would be wonderful! If you could go anywhere to tomorrow, where would you go?

Roni: My first thought is Texas, but my second thought is maybe back in time. How cool would it be to go back and relive some times in your life? For instance with kids almost grown, I’d love to go back and have a day again when they were little. I’d definitely appreciate it all the more.

Alisha: I love living in Texas. Come visit anytime, Roni! Sniff...sniff...you're making me cry. Don't our babies grow up way too fast? If you could see anyone tomorrow (dead or alive), who would it be?

Roni: Alive would be my son the Marine who just left for his first deployment in Iraq. Dead would be my grandmother who’s been gone for over 20 years but I still miss her.

Alisha: If you could choose six people to spend one week on a desert island, who would it be and why?

Roni: My husband Scott because he can fix and build anything and I need someone to cuddle with at night to keep me warm.
Our sons of course because I would lose my mind wondering how they were if I wasn’t there.
A fellow romance writer. I would need to be able to brainstorm with someone who understood writing. The hours fly by when you can talk writing with someone who gets it.
Probably my cousin Dawn. She’s one of my best friends, she can cook and she’s always good for a laugh. She also handles my husband and kids with ease so she’d be a great asset for me.

Alisha: What word or phrase tingles in all the right places for you?

Roni: “I’ve never stopped loving you.”

Alisha: Wow! That's a good one! If you had one day to spoil yourself, what would you do?

Roni: “I’m going to consider that you mean alone so I’m picturing the husband and kids are gone or something for an entire day because really my ideal day is any day I get to spend with them doing what we love. But for myself, to be honest, given the day alone I would most likely write for most of it then relax by reading trashy magazines. I’m horribly addicted to the gossip magazines, they are my guilty pleasure. I also adore shopping at rummage sales or garage sales so I’d put in a few early hours doing that. I might bake a treat or two for my family’s return and my own horrible sweet tooth, and I would definitely indulge in a chick flick or two. Living in a house of men I never ever get to watch chick flicks.

Alisha: If you could change one incident in your life, what would it be and how would you change it?

Roni: There’s many. Not so many that I think they were life changing but tiny things I’ve done that looking back on you know now you could have handled it better. But the one that sticks out in my mind has to do with my career. I changed jobs in the spring of 2006 and it was a very bad move and before the end of summer I was unemployed. The kick in the butt was I had a really good job that I left and it was one of the dumbest career moves I’ve ever made.

Alisha: I did the same dang thing one time! Great jobs are hard to come by but I believe everything happens for a reason. At least that makes me feel better to say...tee hee. What’s the sexiest thing a man has ever done for you or said to you or both?

Roni: My husband is not a romantic man but every once in a while he’ll surprise me. When asked if he loves me, he’ll often say “I’m here aren’t I?” Recently our sons were bugging us about why we still have a double bed when the rest of the world has a king sized bed and my husband said “I like to have your mother close to me when we sleep.” I was a bit shocked to say the least but it did warm my heart.

Alisha: Awww, now that is very sexy and very sweet!

DRAWING: Leave a comment for Roni today and you'll be entered into a drawing for your pick of an ebook; “Beauty and the Geek”, “To Tame A Cowgirl,” or “The Cowboy Comes Home,” or if you'd like to wait for “Trouble in Texas” to release.

Roni: Thanks for having me, this was so much fun!

Alisha: Come back soon, Roni! And remember, you always have a girfriend in Texas when you visit!

Excerpt from Trouble in Texas
It was obvious that Grant thought he had the upper hand and that wouldn’t do. Casually Charli wiggled her foot higher on his leg and settled on his inner thigh. He hissed in his breath and his fingers froze on her knee. All the while the wedding guests in the audience watched not having any idea of how intimate the motions were they were witnessing.

Don’t try to one up me, Doc. She curled her toes into his muscular leg and his fingers reached the hemline of her gown.

His hand slipped out of sight of the crowd and he explored freely above her knee. The others in the room faded away, her eyes held captive by his. His large hand smoothed her inner thigh pressing her legs open and implying an intimacy that no one knew was happening in the audience.

Charli bit down hard on her bottom lip. It was suddenly getting very warm in the room. An ache began to build inside as his fingers dancing on her inner legs sent desire spiraling through her.

Her breasts tightened and her nipples peaked. He noticed and raised one eyebrow and looked into her eyes. His fingers drew tiny little circles on her inner thigh that made warmth curl in the pit of her stomach. She stifled back a groan of pleasure.

She wanted to close her eyes and experience the full sensation of his erotic massage but she couldn’t. He had long ago placed the garter on her leg and now he was simply intent on driving her crazy. The look in his eyes had changed and with a start she realized that he actually thought he’d won this battle. Silly man. Did he really think she was going to let him get to her? In public, in front of everyone?

Purposely she wet her lips with her tongue until his gaze was held captive. The crowd cheered but Charli knew they had no idea just how high his hand was. His body concealed her from view and her skirt covered his arm. His fingers continued to climb up her leg until they encountered the edge of her stockings and her own garter belt, just beyond he touched her bare skin and his nostrils flared and his eyes darkened. She could tell he was trying to picture in his mind what she looked like under the gown.

He traced a pattern along the edge of the silk stockings. When his fingers went higher, she let her breath out in a rush. He held her gaze expecting her to stop him or at least give him a signal that he was being too bold. But then he didn’t know her that well. Discreetly, she slipped down in the chair until his hand encountered a lot more than her bare thigh. His eyes popped open wide and his mouth went slack. His fingers froze.

Charli grinned and slapped her hand down on top of her dress and pretended to be outraged that he’d gone too far. She waved the finger of her other hand in his face as if chastising him. The crowd laughed and Grant’s face turned red. She lifted one eyebrow and smiled evilly at him. To the audience he looked like he was trying to take advantage of her during an innocent wedding ritual.

But rather than quickly pull his hand away, Grant spread his fingers wide and stroked her intimately. Charli gasped and jerked back. He held her firmly in place while he slowly withdrew his other hand from under her skirt.

Did he really just do what she thought he did? In front of all these people? She glanced up at him and the look in his eye told her very clearly that he had done it and he meant to do it. Her center pulsed to life wanting more than the quick brush of his fingers. She blinked trying to get her composure back while the crowd clapped and walked away. No one seemed to notice anything out of sorts. There were no whispered glances, no frowns from the elderly. To everyone else it had seemed perfectly normal. But then why would anyone suspect what had happened.

Most bridesmaids were smart enough to wear panties under gowns.

Alisha: *Popping back in for a sec* Whew!!!! I'm fanning myself. I think I need a cig..and..uh...I don't smoke. LOL! Thanks again for being my guest of honor, Roni! What a great teaser!

An Interview with Daisy from CARIBBEAN DREAMS OF LOVE by Bess McBride!

Hello all!

Alisha kindly allowed me to stop by today with an interview of the heroine of my latest release, a paranormal called CARIBBEAN DREAMS OF LOVE featuring a lonely women and her precocious teenage daughter on a Caribbean cruise, a mysterious musician, a ghost, a pirate, a legend and a curse.

I’m going to interview Daisy, the heroine of the book.

Bess: So, Daisy... What’s the story about? A Caribbean cruise, your daughter, a mysterious musician, a ghost, a pirate, a legend and a curse.

Daisy: Well, Bess, I can’t tell you the whole story because then you wouldn’t read the book. I can give you a quick blurb about it if you like.

Bess: Please do..

Daisy: Okay! Let’s see: My sixteen-year-old daughter, Lily, and I embarked on a Caribbean cruise. Mind you, I wasn’t looking for anything special on the cruise other than a pleasant break from my humdrum existence as long-time divorced single mother to a busy teenage girl. And I certainly wasn’t prepared to meet an enigmatic man named Peter whose idiosyncrasies in dress and speech marked him as an eccentric person. I tried to avoid him, but I couldn’t. There was something about him. In fact, I started obsessing about him from the first moment I caught him staring at me in cruise ship terminal. Peter remained elusive and mysterious throughout the cruise. I’d catch sight of him occasionally, but never often enough to suit me. One blissful night, he swept me into his arms for a waltz. A waltz, you say? On a Caribbean cruise ship? I know. That’s what I thought, too! While my dinner companions shared nightly tales of the legends of cursed pirates, I dreamed of the mysterious man who captured her heart.

Bess: Good gravy! Daisy! How romantic is that...

Daisy: I know, I know!

Bess: And then....

Daisy: Buy the book! At The Wild Rose Press at www.thewildrosepress.com.

Bess: But Daisy, give us a hint. Who is this mysterious Peter? Does the story have a happy ending?

Daisy: Bess! You crack me up! Okay. Hmmm....the mysterious Peter. Nope, I can’t tell you who he is, but I will tell you the story does have a happy ending. Though there was a time where I thought we could never be together. I couldn’t even imagine how it would work. Still...love conquers all. And Daisy got her man.

Bess: Daisy! You rat! I hope Lily grows up to be just like you!

Daisy: Sigh... She is, the poor child. The apple did not fall far from this tree.

An Interview with Beth Caudill and a Contest!

Please welcome Beth Caudill to my blog today! She was scheduled to be on my blog a couple of weeks ago but I was too ill to post. What I thought was food poisoning turned out to be ulcers! Like my friend Michele said, those little gems probably go along with the writer's life. Seems we're always stressed about edits, deadlines, our characters, etc. Sorry for the delay, Beth! I'm so happy you're my guest of honor today!

Alisha: Can you tell us a little bit about your childhood? Favorite memories?

Beth: I grew up in a two bedroom, Pepto-Bismol pink apartment. It was university housing in Morgantown, WV. My dad studied for his PhD and my mom worked. I played with the kids in the complex. Some special moments I remember – Being just as clumsy on roller skates as on shoes and falling and chipping a tooth. Having a charity marathon and spending hours (even at night) seesawing. And my first grade teacher - Mrs. Hupp. She was an older woman who taught me to love flowers.

Alisha: Wow, that's some serious seesawing and hooray for Mrs. Hupp! Tell us about the hero and heroine in your latest release.

Beth: Connor is a lone wolf seeking his mate. Melinda is a human oblivious to the paranormals around her, particularly her boss who sets her up to become Connor’s mate.

Informally Yours

Everyday Melinda Jenson goes to work at Formally Yours, a high-end formal wear store, unaware the customers and owner are members of the local supernatural community. On Halloween night, Melinda's boss asks her to make a simple delivery. Unwilling to disappoint her niece and nephew, she arrives late and has an unexpected encounter with a wolf. Now she's chasing cute, furry forest creatures, and mated to a man she barely knows. “May you live in interesting times,” just took on a whole new meaning.

Excerpt

This is my second excerpt – the first can been read on my website.

When she regained consciousness, Melinda opened her eyes and looked around in wonderment. The world had changed. The woods emitted a dark green glow that pulsed as if it were alive. She could hear insects burrowing and small animals scurrying away. The cry of an owl sounded as close as if it were next to her, yet she could see it circling high above the trees.

Unfamiliar with her new body, her movements were slow as she gained her feet—all four of them! Stunned, she fell back on her haunches and examined her paws. They were covered in a cream-colored fur, and if she concentrated, she could force claws to extend.

Suddenly a nudge from another animal almost knocked her over. Looking around, she nipped at the large gray wolf next to her. It nuzzled her face as if in apology. The wolf ran off a few feet, stopped, and looked back at her. She ignored him. She wanted to sit and examine her new senses. Smell and hearing were the most affected, while sight was crisper but essentially the same. The other wolf returned growling, then nipping at her behind until she got up and followed. She gave a half-hearted growl. She would go for a run if it would get him to leave her alone.

Her limbs seemed to know what to do, carrying her faster than she could imagine. Although she had been following the gray wolf, the fresh scent of a rabbit scurrying across the trail snared her attention. Yipping to let the other wolf know she stopped, her wolf senses filtered out the smell of moss and pine forest. All that remained was a fresh rabbit trail to follow on the right. With stealth, she picked her steps with care where moments before she'd been bounding through the forest.

Eventually she came upon rocks where the rabbit sat licking its paws. Melinda crawled into position ready to pounce.

An image came into her mind of her attacking the helpless animal, sinking her teeth into tender skin, breaking bones, and eating the tasty morsel. Acting on instinct, her body lunged for the rabbit but a tiny voice in the back of her head cried "NO!" The thought of eating Thumper was too disturbing.

Melinda lost her concentration and ended up falling short of the rabbit. She crashed onto the rocks. As she watched, the rabbit dashed into the safety of its burrow. She picked herself up and worked her way to the forest floor before issuing a frustrated growl.

It would take a bit to adjust to this new body. She enjoyed running through the forest, but devouring cute little forest creatures would take a little more time.

Alisha: Whew! I'm glad Thumper got away! If you were granted three wishes by a genie, what would they be?

Beth:
a) Lots of money – I need a bigger house to put the library because I need more space to store all my books.
b) I’d like to fit into a size 8 dress.
c) And World Peace (channeling Sandra Bullock in Miss Congeniality) – can’t we all just get along?

Alisha: If you could go anywhere to tomorrow, where would you go?

Beth: San Francisco – My husband and I honeymooned in SF. This year is our 10 year anniversary and we said we would try to go back every 5 years. We made it at 5 years but this year just hasn’t worked out. Maybe at 15 years.

Alisha: If you could see anyone tomorrow (dead or alive), who would it be?

Beth: Amelia Earhart – I’ve been fascinated by her since I was a little girl. The evolution of flight is interesting to me and she played a part in that history. Some of it was the mystery of her disappearance and some was in awe of the challenges she overcame.

Alisha: What word or phrase tingles in all the right places for you?

Beth: I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream.

Alisha: *Giggle* Oh how I love ice cream! If you had one day to spoil yourself, what would you do?

Beth: I would sit and read all day and not feel guilty about it.

Alisha: If you could change one incident in your life, what would it be and how would you change it?

Beth: I would go back to high school and listen to my dad and consider perusing Chemistry as a major in college instead of Aerospace Engineering. This would be a big change because I only went to my college because of the AE program and I met my husband there. Ahh time paradoxes. That would mean my two kids would not exist (or not exist the same way). Don’t ask whether or not that is a good thing.

Alisha: Oops...yeah, I see what you mean. Every tiny detail in our life happened because of a curve in the road we decided to take. Hey, I have tons of bumps I should have avoided.

Dragon’s Mate

Lady Karee Wilmore is about to be married. To a Prince no less. Yet she is unhappy, all her life she has dreamed of being a Dragon's Mate. She is resigned with her match to the Prince until circumstances land her kidnapped by an Air Dragon. Will all her dreams come true on the cusp of her wedding?

Excerpt

Chapter One

Karee stood on the battlements high above the rippling green lawn. Under her hands the cream-colored stone provided support as she gazed across the countryside that would soon be hers to oversee. The wind carried the crisp, clean scent of spring, and her thoughts drifted to the sky where sunlight glittered off iridescent dragon scales as they flew overhead, safeguarding the land.
Ever since her first encounter with dragons as a little girl, she’d dreamed of being a dragon’s mate. Of flying high in the air and having one man love her forever, something rarely seen in the noble world she was born to. Yet here she was, in her white and gold wedding finery, hours away from marrying Prince Marcus of Alleon; forever tied to the land while yearning for the sky.
“Karee, it’s time.” A familiar voice called from the stair entrance.
Sighing in resignation, she spun around to reply, “Coming momma.” After a last longing glance up, she slowly crossed to the stairs, feeling as if she were going to a funeral and not the joyous occasion of her wedding.
It wasn’t that she didn’t like Marcus; in fact, he was one of her dearest friends, but he did not inspire her with passion. Growing up together, he’d always been there for her—a comforting presence, almost like a brother, but not. From what she’d overheard, from servants and friends, their joining should be a burning fervor, yet his touched warmed and soothed, nothing about it inflamed her passion.
“You look lovely, my dear. I’m so happy for you,” her mother greeted, pushing errant strands of Karee’s windblown hair back in place.
“Thank you momma,” she answered dejectedly.
“Oh, sweetheart, your father and I thought this union would meet with your approval. You and Prince Marcus have known each other a long time and are such good friends.”
“I know, momma. Some dreams just can’t come true. I promise everything will be fine. Marcus is a good man.” But he did not love her and never would, based on what she had seen two days ago. But then if she felt a stronger connection to a stranger then Marcus, what did that say about her?

Garden Magic

Melinda Conley was the last of three magical sisters to marry. After failing to find a mate in the supernatural community, she falls for a mortal. So what happens when her magic garden says he's not her one true love?

Excerpt

Chapter Two
Melinda puttered around the apartment pretending to pack things up. Her thoughts were on the events of the weekend and not on her collection of inconsequential things. This was a pre-furnished apartment and since she was trying to fit into the mortal world, she never bothered to bring any of her private items from the family home. She gave up the pretense of packing; most of the stuff would fit into one box anyway. Overnight, she had come to grips with the fact that although they may not share a love deep enough for true love, they still loved each other and she would continue with the wedding. She was more concerned over his comments about what he would do with the family property if he owned it. It was their third walk through the garden maze on Sunday afternoon.
Eric turned to her as they sat on the bench and said, “I don’t understand why your family has kept this garden around. This might have been nice at the turn of the last century but it’s the 21st century. You have more than enough space for a swimming pool, tennis court, or a massive deck with a nice hot tub in it.”
She was too stunned by the statement to even respond. She couldn’t imagine not having the garden to come out and stroll in day or night. Besides it was also tied into their magic – as much as they poured magic into the property, it also provided them with power when they needed it. “I don’t think it has occurred to any of us that we should do something besides have the garden. It’s a part of our history.”
“You should mention it to your sister Sarah. I know she doesn’t spend much time here what with Marcus’s house. We could hold business meetings or outings here if there were something for the guests to do.” He smiled brilliantly thinking of the points he could win at work having a place like to impress the Board.
She grimaced at the memory; steps would need to be taken to make sure Eric didn’t find out that she owned the estate. He assumed that Sarah as the oldest child had inherited the property. But when her parents had died, Sarah had already been married to Marcus, who had a family home of his own to manage. Carla lived in the faery mound with her husband Gabriel since he was a prince of the realm. Her parents had left her sisters other things that they could use in their marriages and she had been given the responsibility of taking care of the house and land. Sarah would help her perpetuate the myth that the house belonged to the oldest sister, and Melinda would make sure her will specified the house went to someone other than Eric.
Looking at the time, Melinda saw that it was ten o’clock in the morning. Feeling good about life at the moment, she decided to make a picnic lunch to eat with Eric in the office. He had told her on the trip back last night that he wouldn’t be available to eat lunch out today, so she thought she could take it to him. With a spring in her step, she went about digging out the basket and preparing subs for lunch with a fruit parfait for dessert.

An Interview with Hywela Lyn and Two Excerpts!

Please welcome my wonderful friend and muse sister, Hywela Lyn!

Alisha: Can you tell us a little bit about your childhood? Favorite memories?

Lyn: I was brought up in a small Welsh seaside town. As a child I spent a lot of time on the beach – not bathing or soaking up the sun, but looking in the rock pools at the crabs and little fishes. I was always crazy about wild life. I had a Welsh corgi called Bob and I used to take him for long walks in the woods near where we lived. My favourite memories are walking in the country with father and sister, my first riding lessons and working at the local riding stables.

Alisha: What a lovely childhood! Tell us about the hero and heroine in your latest release.

Lyn: Well, I had two books released within a few weeks of each other. ‘Starquest’ was actually contracted before my second book ‘Dancing With Fate’. The heroine is a lady with a mission – things don’t always go right for her and she has some difficult choices to make before she finally gets her ‘happy ever after’. There are actually two heroes in this book. They are totally different, one is dark and distant, the other blond and caring, and both sexy in their own way (And no, it’s not a menage :)).

In my ‘muse’ story, ‘Dancing With Fate’ the heroine is the muse of dance, Terpsichore, and the hero is the Celtic Myrddin ab Morfryn of 5th Century Wales. When the two meet up, sparks of passion ignite, but Myrddin isn’t quite what he seems and Terpsichore finds she has a rival for his affections.

Alihsa: Both of these are on my TBR list! And two heroes? Now I MUST read this! If you were granted three wishes by a genie, what would they be?

Lyn: Well apart from the usual ones of world peace and an end to world poverty -

First of all I really wish no child or animal was ever hungry, homeless or ill treated. It really upsets me when I hear of small children and animals suffering at the hands of people who think it’s all right to hurt anything smaller and weaker than themselves, as if, because they’re not able to stand up for themselves, they have no feelings.

Secondly I wish I could go back in time and tell a couple of people who left this world suddenly, how much I loved them.

Thirdly I’d love to have enough money to buy a little cottage with some land in my beloved Wales.

Alisha: Such wonderful wishes! I really hope you get your last wish too! If you could go anywhere to tomorrow, where would you go?

Lyn: Well, Wales will always be home to me and I miss it very much. But if we’re talking about somewhere further afield, there are a lot of places in the world I’ve never visited and would love to see but the Western states of America are definitely at the top of the list. I’d really love to visit a real horse ranch, and I think the Grand Canyon must be one of the most amazing places in the world.

Alisha: Oh yes! I've been to the Grand Canyon. There is no describing it. Pictures don't do it justice. Just stunning! If you could see anyone tomorrow (dead or alive), who would it be?

Lyn: My mother. She died when I was ten years old and I’d love to tell her how my sister and I turned out. She’d be tickled by my writing I think, and probably surprised that I love horses so much and have had horses of my own ever since I managed to save up enough money too buy one.

Alisha: Oh Lyn! I have a feeling your mother knows all of this. I know she must be very proud! If you could choose six people to spend one week on a desert island, who would it be and why?

Lyn: My two sisters, Chris and Carol, our respective husbands – and my dog Bouncer. Am I allowed to have a dog? My sisters and their husbands and Dave my husband and myself all get on so well with each other and we don’t all manage to be together nearly as often as we’d like, since I now live in England and they’re in Wales. I’d like to take my rescued dog Bouncer, as he always pines if I have to leave him, and he’s such a lively, friendly little dog he’d keep us all amused .

Alisha: Bouncer is such a cute name! What word or phrase tingles in all the right places for you?

Lyn: Apart from chocolate? Well ‘I really loved your book’ will do it every time!

Alisha: Now that gets me all tingly too...lol! If you had one day to spoil yourself, what would you do?

Lyn: I love water. I’d like to take a cruise on the river and be waited on hand and foot!

Alisha: What’s the sexiest thing a man has ever done for you or said to you or both?

Lyn: I once went out with a man who called me ‘Princess’ and treated me like one. Unfortunately we both had problems at the time and drifted apart. I loved his old fashioned courtesy and found it a real ‘turn on’. He once cooked me a Birthday dinner, complete with a perfect ‘baked Alaska’.

Alisha: Ooooh, yes, I love a gentleman!

EXCERPT FROM STARQUEST

"I’ve loved the stars ever since I was a child. All I ever wanted was to travel to distant planets, visit new worlds.”

She smiled a little sadly. “Like you, I thought my work and my love of travelling was enough. But space can be very lonely sometimes, however beautiful it is. I hadn’t realised how lonely.”

“How long have you been a pilot, Jess?”

“Seven years, allowing for the vagaries of Time-Dilation and FTL travel. I graduated at eighteen from the Orion Space Training Centre and then, after my two years practical space flight experience, joined the Sisterhood as a Missionary. Apart from a year’s intensive training with them I’ve been travelling in space since I qualified.”

“You went to Orion?”

She nodded, enjoying the quick look of approval he gave her. Orion was notorious for the difficulty of its entry requirements and the rigorous training undertaken by its student pilots.

“Seven years is a long time,” he said softly. “I promise you Jess, while we both live, you will never be alone again.”

BLURB FROM DANCING WITH FATE

Terpsichore and Myrddin face a deadly force that threatens to part them forever. Is she destined to lose the only man she has ever truly loved? Is there nothing she can do to save him? Finally, when all seems lost, in desperation she finds herself DANCING WITH FATE.

An Interview with Elaine Cantrell and A Christmas Excerpt!

Please welcome Elaine Cantrell to my blog today!

Alisha: Can you tell us a little bit about your childhood? Favorite memories?

Elaine: I was born and raised in a small town in upstate South Carolina. I had one sister and a huge number of aunts, uncles and cousins. The cousins always had a wonderful time when we got together. We’d go up into my grandmother’s barn and throw corn cobs at each other, or maybe go swimming in the little creek in her cow pasture. Not a weekend ever went by without someone spending the night with someone. We’d stay up until all hours of the morning to tell ghost stories, play cards, and giggle.

I suppose some of my best memories revolve around my grandmother. We stayed with her when we weren’t in school. She was so much fun! She went to sleep one afternoon and we painted her toe nails with bright red polish. She twitched every now and then, but I don’t think she knew a thing about it until she woke up.

Alisha: What a wonderful childhood! Tell us about the hero and heroine in your latest release.

Elaine: My hero is a lawyer, a rich lawyer, by the name of Tommy Price. Tommy’s family wants him to find a suitable girl and settle down, but Tommy’s tried of cookie cutter women whose only interests are gossip and shopping. He wants someone who’s real.

That’s why he’s so attracted to Nikki Lane, my heroine. Nikki made some bad choices in her life. She had two children with a total jerk who left her high and dry when her second child was born. She works at a discount store and lives with her mother. Because of her bad experience, she doesn’t trust men.

Alisha: Did you base this on my life? Just kidding. If you were granted three wishes by a genie, what would they be?

Elaine: Only three? Okay, first I’d like to have a book on the New York Times best seller list. Second, I’d like to make people feel happy when they read my work, and third, oh give me a million dollars or so.

Alisha: You and me both! If you could go anywhere to tomorrow, where would you go?

Elaine: Greece. I want to see the Greek isles before I die.

Alisha: Sigh...me too. If you could see anyone tomorrow (dead or alive), who would it be?

Elaine: I’d like to see my mother and father. Both of them passed away before my first book was published, and I’d like to show my books to them. My mother in particular would be so proud of me. She was a reader who introduced my sister and me to the pleasures of reading. She used to take us to the public library every week, an outing we always looked forward to. I’d like for them to see my grandchildren too. My last grandson is named after my father, but he died before the child was born.

Alisha: If you could choose six people to spend one week on a desert island, who would it be and why?

Elaine: My son Steven for one. He’s a hoot. He keeps us all in stitches. My sister Anne is another. She lives in Alaska, and I haven’t seen her in a couple of years. I think I’d take my husband too. We need a vacation. After that, I’ll take three of my best friends, but I can’t say which three because they might read this interview!

Alishas: What word or phrase tingles in all the right places for you?

Elaine: Oh, goodness. Fanning self. I’m a sucker for guys with nice shoulders, so any reference to shoulders usually makes me sit up and take notice.

Alisha: Oooh la la! If you had one day to spoil yourself, what would you do?

Elaine: I’d visit a famous designer and order a new wardrobe. Then I’d have a visit to a nice spa. Afterward, I’d have a marvelous dinner at the best restaurant in town.

Alisha: If you could change one incident in your life, what would it be and how would you change it?

Elaine: I wouldn’t change any of the major choices I made in my life. Some few minor things possibly, but I’m pretty happy with my life just as it is. One thing I would do, though, is start writing at a younger age. My husband always told me that I could write if I wanted to, but I didn’t believe him. I decided to try only after my son wrote a book and told me about it.

Alisha: What’s the sexiest thing a man has ever done for you or said to you or both?

Elaine: That man would have to be my husband. We’ve been married for a long time, but he can still surprise me. The last sexy thing he did was have flowers delivered to me for no reason whatsoever. I got them at school, I’m a teacher, and I wondered if the flower shop had made a mistake, but they hadn’t. The card read, You’re prettier today than you were the day we got married, and I love you even more. Isn’t that just wonderful!

Alisha: Yes! How lovely! What a wonderful man!

The Best Selling Toy Of The Season
Blurb:
Who’d want to be Nikki Lane? Sure, she’s beautiful, but her family isn’t much. She isn’t married either, and supporting her two boys on a minimum wage job has cost her more than one sleepless night.
Tommy Price is everything Nikki isn’t. He lives on James Street, the best street in town. Naturally, his rich, influential family has a suitable woman picked out for him to marry.
Tommy and Nikki’s two diverse worlds literally collide one evening at the discount store where Nikki works, giving both of them a glimpse into a life they never knew existed.
Can the growing attraction between them bridge the vast gulf which separates them, or will their romance end before it even begins?

Excerpt:

In this excerpt Tommy Price, the best lawyer in Fairfield, has just been reminded by his secretary that he has to buy a gag gift to take to a party.

“Tommy, you told me to remind you that you have to buy a gag gift to take to the party tonight.”
Tommy sighed. “I don’t know what to get. What do you recommend?”
“Beats me. You know I don’t have a sense of humor.”
Tommy gave up. If Mattie didn’t want to help him, nothing would move her, and he knew he had made her angry when he refused to go out with her cousin, Tia. He wouldn’t say so to Mattie, but Tia was too stuck on herself for him to enjoy her company. “I’ll see you Monday, Mattie. Have a good weekend.”
“You too, Tommy. If you change your mind about my cousin, give me a call.”
Mattie went back to her desk, and Tommy donned his coat, and left for the day. It had started to snow harder now, and the weather report called for several inches accumulation. Maybe I could find a gag gift at Super Mart, he thought, and on impulse he wheeled his car into the discount store’s parking lot.
It took a few minutes to find a place to park, for Christmas arrived in a few days, and the last minute shoppers had clearly panicked when they took note of the date. Tommy hurried into Super Mart and immediately spied Bill English
At one time he had hoped to be Bill’s son-in-law. He had fallen deeply in love with Bill’s daughter, Susan, but Susan hadn’t felt the same way about him. She had broken up with him and married another man shortly afterward.
Bill worked at Super Mart so he handed Tommy a sale paper. “Merry Christmas, Tommy.”
“Hi, Bill. Merry Christmas. How are Susan and Kurt?”
“Doing great. You need to think about getting married yourself, Tommy.”
Tommy decided to beat a hasty retreat. Why did everybody want him to get married? “I’d better run, Bill. I’ve got a party to go to.”
He waved to Bill and dashed away, grateful for a quick escape. He wandered down the center aisle of the store, but he didn’t see anything that he thought seemed funny. He spotted a woman wearing the orange coat that identified her as Super Mart staff; maybe she could help him. He tapped her on the shoulder. “Excuse me, ma’am. Could you help me?”
The clerk turned around and Tommy’s breath caught in his throat. He had stumbled across a princess. She had dark, smooth hair, creamy, porcelain skin, indigo blue eyes, full, red lips, and a shape that even the orange coat couldn’t hide. For a moment, he couldn’t remember what he wanted.
“Cat got your tongue?” the young woman cheerfully inquired. “You look familiar. Do I know you?”
“I… don’t know, I mean, I don’t think so,” Tommy floundered, mentally kicking himself for allowing a beautiful woman to reduce him to the level of a gauche freshman.
“Well, what do you want? I’m too busy to just stand here and talk. You aren’t trying to pick me up are you? You’re tall, dark and handsome as they say, but I’ve sworn off men. Every time I get involved with one it turns out bad. Your hair is as black as can be. You don’t dye it, do you?”
“Uh, no, I don’t dye it.”
“You won’t tell me what you want, so I’ll have to guess. You look like you might be an athlete, so I expect you want sporting goods. Follow this red line on the floor, and it’ll take you where you want to go.”
“No,” Tommy replied hastily. “That isn’t it. I want a gag gift.”
“Let me think.”
Tommy waited in silence for a moment or two. “I know just the thing,” she assured him. Follow me.”
She led Tommy to the lingerie department which didn’t please him at all. It embarrassed him to look at underwear with a beautiful woman.
She went down aisle five and selected a box from the shelf. “Here you go. This is a perfect gag gift unless you’re going to a church party. It might be a little over the top for church. Not that I think it’s bad myself, but ministers might. What do you think?”
“I don’t know what it is so it’s hard to have an opinion,” Tommy pointed out.
The girl handed him the box. “It’s a passion meter. You hold the round glass part in your hand, and your body heat causes the red liquid to rise in this little tube. You know; like mercury in a thermometer, but see on the side here? It tells you what kind of lover you are based on how far your body heat makes the liquid rise. Take it out of the box and try it.”
“I don’t need to do that.”
“Oh, you might as well. Don’t you want to know?”
Well…
The woman removed the device from the box and handed it to him. “Wrap your hand around the glass bulb.”
Tommy did as she instructed. Suddenly the liquid boiled and shot straight to the top of the glass tube.
“Look at you,” the woman laughed. “You measured red hot super stud.”
Tommy’s face turned a color very similar to the red liquid, and a fit of laughter so intense that she had to hold the shelf for support seized his lovely companion. “You’re awfully shy, aren’t you? I guess you weren’t trying to pick me up after all. Is there anything more that I can show you?”
“No, but thank you for helping me.” Why did she have to laugh at him? No man wanted a beautiful woman to make fun of him.
“Merry Christmas,” she said and bustled away.

This book sounds like a hoot, Elaine! What a wonderful Christmas treat! Thanks for being my guest of honor today!
