An Interview with Anne Kane and A Drawing!

Please welcome Anne Kane to my blog today!

Alisha: Can you tell us a little bit about your childhood? Favorite memories?

Anne: I grew up in a typical happy family, with a brother and sister. I always liked to make up stories and tell them to my siblings when we were supposed to be sleeping at night. My favorite memories are camping trips in the summer, where we go to play and swim and have lots of fun.

Alisha: I loved camping too. That was always so much fun as a kid. Tell us about the hero and heroine in your latest release.

Anne: My latest release is Stargazers: Wanton, the first in a new series. It’s available March 13th from Changleing Press (hint hint!)

The hero, Tarik is a human cyborg, leader of the rebellion against the Intergalactic Council. He kidnaps Krystal because she is a Stargazer and he needs her special abilities in order to rescue his brother.

Stargazers are women with the ability to see and control the lines of psychic energy that join the planets and other heavenly bodies. They can tap into these power lines and bend the energy to their own use, much the same as the druids of Earth used to do with ley lines. They can use the power to run space ships, machinery on-planet and other things. No one is sure what causes theses particular females to mutate and develop this ability. They are highly sought after, both by legitimate sources who want to hire them, and by pirates who enslave and sell them.

I had a lot of fun writing this book and I’m working on the sequel Stargazers: Willful. It is scheduled to release in late May.

Alisha: Wow! Sounds like a fascinating story! Congrats on your release. If you were granted three wishes by a genie, what would they be?

Anne: That’s a tough one. My life is pretty good at the moment, so I’m not sure what to ask for. I think first I’d wish for continued good health, because without that, life would be a lot less fun. Second, I’d like to wish for an end to all of the petty fighting going on all over the world. So many people are hurt for no reason. Third, I think I’d like to see the economy improve in such a way that everyone has food and shelter, and enough money to buy my books.

Alisha: All excellent wishes! If you could go anywhere to tomorrow, where would you go?

Anne: I think I’d go tour Europe. I’d love to visit all the old buildings, churches and castles.

Alisha: Ooooh, me too! If you could see anyone tomorrow (dead or alive), who would it be?

Anne: Hmm. You think I’d answer my beloved Grandmother or something, but no. I’d like to see Sean Connery. Of course, if he’s not available I’d be happy to settle for any sexy guy with an incredible Scottish accent.

Alisha: LOL! What word or phrase tingles in all the right places for you?

Anne: “Let me do the laundry for you!” I hate laundry. LOL

Alisha: Now that is very hot! If you had one day to spoil yourself, what would you do?

Anne: Laze around on the porch swing in the shade of the big maple tree, with a good book and a nice pitcher of lemonade spiked with gin. (Does it sound like I’ve done that before?!)

Alisha: Now you are MY kind of girl! Can you give us an excerpt from your latest book?

Ann: Definitely! This scene is the first interaction between Tarik and Krystal.

“Let me see if I have this straight.” Sarcasm dripped from Krystal’s voice. “You launched an unprovoked attack on my parent’s estate, abducted me, left me cooling my heels in a cold cargo bay holding cell for goddess knows how long, had my hands bound behind me with a set of barbaric and extremely uncomfortable restraints, and then had me brought to what is obviously an interrogation chamber.” She paused to sweep a scornful glance around the room, her gaze lingering on a padded rack with leather straps dangling from the various parts. “And now you’d like me to do a favor for you?” She lifted her chin and fixed him with a glacial stare. “Thanks, but I don’t think so. I’d like to go home now.”
He had to give her credit for poise. Her haughty stance and the way she held her head high, chin tilted just so, gave the impression she was used to giving orders -- and having them obeyed.
He glanced away from her for a moment and gestured at the guards. “Please remove Ms. de Mylar’s restraints and wait outside the door until I summon you. He was gratified to see a faint shadow of alarm cross her face. She knew he wouldn’t give in quite this easy. He gave her a bland smile. “We need to discuss how best to accommodate her request.”
The shorter of the two guards stepped forward to remove the restraints. Tarik had to think for a moment before he could place him. Brent was a new recruit, a refugee from the Intergalactic Council’s recent annexation of the Utan home worlds.
Krystal stepped away from the guard and rubbed her wrists. The restraints hadn’t been that tight, but they’d obviously annoyed her.
A loud click signaled the departure of the guards and Tarik leaned back, stretching his long legs out under the table. “Have a seat.” He nodded toward the empty chair across from him.
“No thank you.”
He shrugged. “Suit yourself. This might take a while.”
The witch raised a brow at him. “I can’t imagine why.”
He didn’t say anything for a moment, letting his gaze wander from the sprinkling of freckles on her nose, down her lithe figure to the foot that she tapped impatiently on the floor. Luckily, the table hid his body’s reaction. He didn’t need her to know she could arouse him with just a glance.
“Fine!” She threw herself into the chair, crossing her arms on her chest and glaring at him. “Discuss away.”
Tarik had to suppress the urge to grin. She certainly had the supercilious attitude down pat. He leaned forward, focusing on her emerald green eyes. Bad idea. A man could drown in those eyes. He shifted his attention lower, only to find himself wondering what those lips would taste like.

Alisha: Oh my...very hot! Thanks for the teaser! What’s the sexiest thing a man has ever done for you or said to you or both?

Anne: My husband, who was never much of a talker, once said to me. “I don’t deserve you, but no one could ever love you more than I do.” He was wrong about the deserving part, but right about the rest of it. I will always remember the sound of his voice and the look on his face when he said that.

Congratulations on Wanton. It sounds great.
I also would pick Sean Connery. He is fantastic. If I could not have him, Adrian Paul is also pretty good. Even though he was born in England, he's still the Highlander. LOL.
Thank you for entering me in your contest.

Anne - Your story sounds great! So she's sort of like the people that can take a stick and find water? I can't remember what they're called off hand.

The memory with your husband is so touching. It's funny how the things like his look can make such a lasting impression but are impossible to quantify. One of my special memories was after my husband and I had been fighting. I think for days. We're asleep and a woke up. He rolled over kissed and hugged me. I'm not even sure he was awake which made it even better. Sounds really stupid but it was touching to me.

Kytaira, it is the little looks or glances or comments from our loved ones that mean so much.

I've actually seen people find water with a stick - it's really quite amazing. Thanks for reading my blog and commenting.
