Virtual Book Tour ~ Fezariu's Epiphany ~ An Interview with Vintaro

Interview with Vintaro from Fezariu’s Epiphany

Alisha: Tell us a little about yourself?

Vintaro: My name is Vintaro and I’m a toldere from the island of Lemanto. Many in Elenchera reckon that we’re an assertive and outspoken bunch but they clearly don’t know us at all. I don’t think we talk too much or outstay our welcome. You’re certainly not having any trouble getting a word in are you?

Alisha: Indeed! What part do you play in the novel, Fezariu’s Epiphany?

Vintaro:I have issues with that title for a start. I think my name should be in there somewhere, don’t you? I come into the story in the second part. I left Lemanto to join the Merelax Mercenaries and when I arrived at Archangel University and found a line of recruits standing in the rain I thought to myself, “I’m not standing at the back when there’s drier spots towards the front.” Under the shelter of the overhanging rooftops of the university I bumped into Fezariu, Tessera and Arshea. We soon became friends, inseparable you might say.

Alisha: Author David M. Brown has described your character as offering light relief in the novel. How would you respond to that?

Vintaro: I think he’s complimenting me. Secretly, I think he likes me the best. I’m certainly the funniest character in the book, that’s for sure, but I have a big part to play as well. Fezariu, Tessera, Arshea and I fight and bleed together out on the colonies. Ours is a solid bond of friendship and camaraderie that cannot be broken. I never imagined I could meet such people, especially in the mercenaries. Each of us has a story and although Fezariu’s tale is central to the novel each of us have something to say, all of us matter to this story.

Alisha: What are your thoughts on a Vintaro fan club? Any sign of your own spin-off?

Vintaro: If the public wish to honour me with a fan club then I would be most grateful but I’m just happy knowing many readers have enjoyed my contribution to the novel. They have also taken a shine to Tessera, who is an amazing mercenary, Fezariu of course, and his mother Jessamine. A spin-off with me as the main character sounds interesting. I’ll see what David M. Brown comes up with. He’s working hard on a new novel, A World Apart, now.

Alisha: Is there anything else you want to add about Fezariu’s Epiphany?

Vintaro: Only that I hope readers enjoy the book. I’m just one of many characters within its pages. Fezariu is the main man, that’s without question, and he’s one of the finest men I’ve ever met. His story, as difficult as it is, is one you should consider hearing. Keep your fingers crossed for that spin-off. I think I’d make a dashing protagonist.
