Snag WARRIOR LOVER by Karilyn Bentley while you can! #amreading #kindle #romance

Hi Alisha! Thank you for having me on your blog. I love stopping by for a visit! Today I’m talking about Warrior Lover, the second book in the Draconia Tales series. It’s the sequel to Magical Lover and features the story of Enar and Lily, who were first introduced in ML. They needed their own book and Enar kept clamoring for his story until I gave up and wrote it. He’s rather persistent.

The good news is it’s currently free on Amazon Kindle (I was told by my publisher FREE for 5 days starting on 2/13. I’m not so good with math, but I think the sale ends Sunday, 2/17), so you have nothing to lose to go check it out. Go on, you know you want to download it to your Kindle. Really. You do. How’s that for a not-so-subliminal message?

To celebrate the FREE cost and give you a little taste of the story, here is a blurb and an excerpt from Warrior Lover. I hope you enjoy!

BLURB:
As a Watcher, a guardian warrior of the Draconi, Enar has never fit in with his kind. When he sees Lily--the ideal Watcher's woman--he instantly claims her, believing she will bring him the acceptance he craves. Falling in love with her was not part of his plan.

As her town's outcast, Lily wants nothing more than to escape. When Enar locks a necklace around her throat and declares she belongs to him, she jumps at the chance to leave. Her excitement soon becomes trepidation when Enar won't tell her what to expect in his world. But even her worry can't overcome her growing attraction to him.

Soon Lily learns what life as a Watcher's claim entails, and refuses to submit. To keep Lily, Enar must turn his back on everything he thought he wanted. Will he choose his people? Or the other half of his soul?

EXCERPT:
So why did he want his own woman so badly?
He looked past Keara to the door of her shop and his brain forgot the question.
The exquisite woman he saw earlier in the square, the one whose gaze had locked on his, the one he had been thinking about just moments ago, stood frozen in place, eyes wide with fright or wonder. Mine, whispered through his head, as he tried to stop the impending erection from forming. No such luck.
The brown tunic, black pants and black cloak she wore made her pale skin glow, highlighting the white hair that streamed down her back. Piercing blue eyes, the same color as his, gazed back at him from an elfin face. Besides those blue eyes, the only color in her face was in her lips. Lush red lips, parted slightly, as if she didn’t know whether to scream or not. Lush red lips that would fit well around his staff as she suckled him.
He had known many women, lusted after more than that, and yet none of them made him feel the way this one did. What was different about her? Her coloring? That had to be it. All Watchers wanted a woman with pale skin, their ideal beauty, although none of them had gotten so lucky. None but him.
His woman. His for the taking.
Thoren’s words snapped Enar back to the present. No surprise his friend had just agreed to Keara’s request to take Jamie with them.
"Is that one part of your bride price, too?" Enar pointed to the pale-skinned woman.
Asking was the polite thing to do. Not that the answer mattered, the woman was his, but if she was included in this ridiculous bride price, it might make things easier on all involved.
He had it on good authority that claiming a woman had a tendency to frighten her.
"What?" Keara glared at Enar, who paid her no heed as he remained staring at his soon-to-be woman. "No, she’s my friend, Lily."
"I see." Goddess’s teeth. That made it harder.
And Thoren’s glare wasn’t helping any, either.
"What in the Goddess’s name do you think you’re doing?" Thoren threw his hand out, smacking Enar’s chest. "We’re on a mission, fool. You can’t lay claim to her."
"She’s mine. I claim her. You don’t have the right to tell me who I can and cannot claim. And she’s mine. Look at her. Exquisite."
Thoren’s eyes narrowed, one finger pointing at Enar’s chest. "What are you going to do with her? We still have to find the Halfling boy and we already have a female and a boy. This is becoming a traveling circus, not a reconnaissance mission. We. Do. Not. Need. Another female!"
"Forget you. She’s mine." Enar turned his attention to Lily, who still stood hand on the door, only now Keara stood beside her. "Woman of the exquisite coloring."
Both females jumped, what little color present in his woman’s face bleeding out. He strode across the yard until he stood in front of them. Grabbing Lily’s arm, he pulled the claiming necklace from a pouch hanging off his belt.
"Lily of the exquisite coloring, I claim you for my woman." With a quick flick of his wrist, the strand of beads fell around her neck, the ends snapping closed.
Magic streamed through the beads, holding the necklace in place until his death, which he had no plans of meeting anytime soon. The magic also kept the woman from running off like she often wanted to do after being claimed by a Watcher. Once he returned Lily to his village, she would remain there, since the magic in the necklace kept her from walking past the village gates. He didn’t know how far she could wander from him before then so he needed to keep her close.
Gathering her stiff and wide-eyed body into his arms, he gazed into her eyes and felt something shift inside him.
His.
He couldn’t stop the smile from spreading across his face.

Are there Werewolves in London?

Karilyn Bentley thinks so! In honor of her release of Werewolves in London, I've invited her here so we can all get to know her better...well that..and to read an excerpt! Happy book birthday, Karilyn!

Alisha: Can you tell us a little bit about your childhood? Favorite memories?

Karilyn: We lived in the city and didn’t have a lot of money growing up, but we had a lot of fun. Some of my favorite memories are the homemade Christmas gifts, based all on puns. Like the 12 carrot necklace. Or the years Mom and a friend crafted gifts in the shape of the 12 days of Christmas. Dad used to make up poems with clues and hide them around the house, each “clue” led to the next one and at the end was the present. I was always encouraged to make up stories and to this day Mom is really upset b/c one of my stories was never finished and she wants to know the end and I have no clue what she’s talking about.

Alisha: Tell us about the hero and heroine in your latest release.

Karilyn: Vonda and Tom. Vonda is a werewolf who is currently hoping to be a dog trainer. Tom is her first client. When his daughter is kidnapped, Tom has to rely on Vonda to help him rescue her. But there’s more to the kidnapping than meets the eye.

Alisha: If you were granted three wishes by a genie, what would they be?

Karilyn: Oh wow. I don’t know, let me think. Hmm. Eeek! The Hubster just doused me with a bucket of water b/c he thought I was on fire from all that smoke coming out my ears. Okay, sorry (shakes self off). I would wish to be able to eat whatever I want without gaining weight, world peace (cliché, I know, but it would help me to be able to read the paper without getting scared and/or pissed off) and to continue to have my stories published, read and liked.

Alisha: Okay. You're a twig. You should probably use that wish for something else. If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?

Karilyn: I’d go back to Sweden with a stop-over in Scotland and Iceland. Or maybe I’d tour the National Parks. So many places, not enough money.

Alisha: If you could see anyone tomorrow (dead or alive), who would it be?

Karilyn: The first thought that popped in my head was Jesus and Buddha. Don’t ask.

Alisha: But what if Jesus and Buddha are the same person? Ouch. That thought hurts my brain. You could choose six people to spend one week on a desert island, who would it be and why?

Karilyn: Am I there with them, or am I punishing them? Ha! Okay, I’m there with them. Hmm. Hey, Hubster, put the bucket down. Down I say! Okay, where was I? Desert island. Perhaps my favorite authors. Then I could pick their minds and learn all their secrets. Bwahahahaha!

Alisha: Oh. cool! So you'd pick me and Vicki Batman and Liz Lipperman and Sasha Summers and Kathy Ivan..oh...why don't we just have an island princess party!! Didn't you already have dinner with Sherilyn Kenyon? Well, invite her to the party too!!! Will you invite Rebecca York for me..oh and Stephen King and Anne Rice...I'd like to hear them talk shop..wow! What word or phrase tingles in all the right places for you?

Karilyn: A sentence that pulls me in and makes me become the character and feel the same things she does.

Alisha: If you had one day to spoil yourself, what would you do?

Karilyn: I’m assuming money isn’t an issue so I’d go to a spa. Get all wrapped up in seaweed and have them rub salt all over until my skin glows.

Alisha: Can I go with? If you could change one incident in your life, what would it be and how would you change it?

Karilyn: I’d stop and help the lady having car trouble instead of thinking she was crazy (in all fairness, she was hopping around shaking a white scarf like her car was the bull and she the matador). My conscious is still beating me up over that.

Alisha: Don't worry about it. I was okay. I got it fixed. It was a bee! That's why I was waving the scarf! What’s the sexiest thing a man has ever done for you or said to you or both?

Karilyn: My hubby is great, but he wouldn’t like me to say what it was. One thing I will say, he’s a great cook!

Alisha: Way to share with the girls! ;)

Werewolves in London
Excerpt
“Your dog doesn’t respect you.” Vonda reached down to scratch behind Sam’s ear. “I can help you with that problem, but I can’t help train him to herd. Do we have a deal?”
Tom took off his hat, scratched his head and slammed it back on as if to hold in steam. Judging from the color of his face, he should have let his hair wave free in the breeze. It might cool things off. One long finger pointed at Sam. One nicely shaped, work hardened finger. The list of things that finger could do to her body rushed through Vonda’s brain on fast forward. It didn’t help that the man whose finger provoked such lascivious thoughts was the best-looking thing in this little Podunk town.
Why was she thinking such thoughts? Concentrate, Vonda, concentrate! Last time she thought this way about a man she was in heat. Oh shit. Not again. No wonder Sam stuck to her like proverbial glue.
Wait. Tom’s mouth was moving. “...me?”
“Huh? I’m sorry, what did you say?” Good job Vonda, way to look stupid on your first visit with a client.
“I said, how can that dog not respect me?”
“Well, dogs see things differently than humans. If you don’t act like the alpha, then they assume they are the alpha. That’s what creates problems. That’s where I can help.”
“Yes, yes. I know. But I have other herding dogs. None of them give me problems. What’s up with that?” A frustrated green stare bored into her.
Men frustrated so easily. Humans in general. Ever see a canine with hypertension?
Sam licked her hand. Then she smelled it. The scent of a man. Not just any man. A man she wanted to mate with. A man about six four, with sandy blond, almost brown hair and green eyes. A man who stood less than three feet from her.
Damn hormones.
If she didn’t get out of here soon she’d lose any chance of ever being a dog trainer.

An Interview with a Werewolf!

Alisha: Please welcome Karilyn Bentley to my blog today! Your guests were kinda chummy in the green room. Is it a full moon or what?

Karilyn: Hi Alisha, Thank you for having us visit with you today! I’ve brought along special guests, the hero and heroine from my novella, Wolf Mates. Please welcome Zane and Margie.

ZANE AND MARGIE: Thank you for having us blog with you!

KARILYN: Thank you for coming! Zane, let’s start with you. Tell us a bit about yourself.

ZANE: Until I met Margie, I was an enforcer in my pack. Hated the job since the pack’s alpha controlled us. You’ll have to read to find out more about what a *** Sid was.

MARGIE (elbowing ZANE): Hon, I think this is a PG-13 blog. You probably shouldn’t use those kinds of words.

ZANE: Sorry. But it’s an accurate description.

KARILYN: I know, but Margie’s right. I’m glad that you are no longer in that pack.

ZANE: Not as glad as I am.

KARILYN: So, Margie, please tell us a bit about you.

MARGIE: Gladly. I’m the London, Montana pack’s alpha. Yes, I know it’s odd for a female to be an alpha, you don’t have to look at me like that. You’d be amazed at how many werewolves come visit a single female alpha’s pack. We still get some coming to take a look and I’ve been mated for months now.

KARILYN: Sounds like you enjoy the job.

MARGIE: Very much so. I run a good pack, right down to the young pups.

KARILYN: It’s so nice to hear when people enjoy their jobs. Let’s go back to Zane. Tell us what you first thought of when you saw Margie.

ZANE: I smelled her first and knew she was my mate. I was injured at the time and was out of it. When I woke and saw her, I thought she was the best looking woman ever. Then she got pissed at me.

KARILYN: I’m glad to see she’s no longer upset with you. Margie, what about you? What did you first think when you saw Zane?

MARGIE: This is a bit embarrassing, but my first thought was oh no, I don’t need a mate. I knew he was my mate from the way I reacted to his scent, but it was so hard to let go of my pack. It’s worked out pretty well though.

ZANE: Just pretty well?

KARILYN: Moving on. Zane, what was the best thing Margie ever did for you?

ZANE: If I say that, it’ll give the story away. Mating me is right up there, so I’ll say that instead. She mated me and took me into her life.

KARILYN: Aw, that’s sweet. I’m glad it worked out for you. Margie, what about you? What was the best thing Zane did for you?

MARGIE: He defers most of the pack’s decisions to me. A lot of alpha males wouldn’t, but he doesn’t seem to mind. It might sound silly, but being able to lead my, I mean our, pack, is very important to me.

ZANE: And it’s hot, babe, hot. I like watching you lead.

KARILYN (fanning face): Okay, it’s getting a bit warm in here. Zane, is there anything you’d change about Margie?

ZANE: I love her just the way she is. But I would change her position right now. Come here, babe and—

KARILYN: Okay, okay. PG-13 blog remember? None of that. Margie, is there anything you’d change about Zane?

MARGIE: I have to admit, I do agree with him about the changing position thing. But we are on a blog. So, my only complaint is that he leaves the toilet seat up. I fell in the other night. It wasn’t pleasant.

ZANE: I said I’d work on it.

MARGIE: I know. Karilyn asked, so I had to answer.

KARILYN: Well, our time is up. It looks like you are about to have a good evening. But before we go, is there anything else you’d like to tell the readers?

ZANE: Tell them thank you for checking out our story.

MARGIE: We hope they enjoy it.

KARILYN: Thank you for stopping by! Hope you have a good trip home.

Excerpt

“Hey, in there. I’m going to open the door. Don’t even think about taking me down.” As if he could. If she knew he was her mate, she assumed he could sense that she was his. And a male would never hurt his mate. Although if he wanted to take her down and sex her senseless she wouldn’t oppose him.
Pull it together, Margie! How can you think of sex at a time like this?
She shook her head-who would have thought meeting her mate would cause sexual thoughts to overwhelm her common sense-and rapped on the door. “Do you hear me?”
“I do. Why am I locked in?”
She liked his voice. Maybe she could get him to speak more just to hear the melodious rumble as it crossed her skin. By the saints, what was she thinking? Hello, Margie, pull your head out of your hormones and channel your inner alpha.
After she pushed the code into the keypad, she turned the knob and pushed open the door. Spilled soup lay in twisting rivulets across the floor, flowing from the broken bowl. The tray lay behind the mess. Zane stood in front of the bed, arms crossed, completely naked with the exception of a silver torc around his neck. Oh yeah, she could get used to the eye candy. It was impressive.
Eye contact, Margie, eye contact.
Like meeting his eyes helped. Black brows and thick lashes framed amber eyes that gleamed with questions. Sleep-tussled black hair shot through with silver and tan hung in waves to his shoulders. Above a white bandage wrapped around his middle, tight curls dusted his chest and below the bandage the curls led in a trail from his navel to...
Eyes, Margie, eyes.

Karilyn Bentley Interviews the Hero and Heroine of Magical Lover! And A Chance to Win A Book!

Pleaes welcome Karilyn Benley to my blog today! Very excited to have you here today, Karilyn!

Hi Alisha,
Thank you for having me here today. I have brought along special guests, the hero and heroine of Magical Lover. Please welcome Thoren and Keara.

THOREN AND KEARA: Thank you for having us!

KARILYN: Thank you for coming. Thoren, tell us a bit about you.

THOREN: I’m a Draconi. For those of you that haven’t met a Draconi, we’re a race of shapeshifting dragons from the land of Draconia. When I first met Keara I worked for the Council as a reconnaissance specialist, or as you might call it, a spy.

KARILYN: Oh my. I bet you have a lot of adventure stories to tell.

THOREN: I do. Unfortunately, I’m not supposed to speak of them.

KARILYN: I understand. Keara, it’s your turn. Tell us a bit about you.

KEARA: Well, I’m an apothecary by training. My grandmother was an apothecary and she taught me the knowledge and skill. That was before I met Thoren, though. When he told me I was a Halfling, half Draconi and half human, I left my apothecary shop behind and traveled with him to Draconia. I’ve learned new skills now.

KARILYN: I’m glad things have worked out for you and that it’s better than where you were. Ok, Thoren, back to you. When you think back to when you first saw Keara, what comes to mind?

THOREN: I wanted to kill the man that held her.

KARILYN: I mean, what did you notice about Keara.

THOREN: Sorry. Her beauty. How the sun sparkled like rubies in her hair. The look of fear mixed with trust in her eyes as she gave me her hand.

KARILYN: Aw. That’s sweet. Keara, what about you?

KEARA: He saved me from a very bad situation. I remember his strength, the set of his jaw as he glared at Lord Simon. I was scared, but he inspired trust. I’m so glad I went with him.

THOREN: I am too.

KARILYN: I’m glad to hear it! Thoren, what is the best thing Keara ever did for you?

THOREN: She agreed to be my mate. I’d be nothing without her.

KARILYN: What about you, Keara?

KEARA: He saved me. Took me away from my village and all the people who hated me and brought me to his home. And he loves me.

KARILYN: I’m sure you love him too.

KEARA: Of course!

KARILYN: Thoren, is there anything you’d change about Keara?

THOREN: Nothing at all. I love her just the way she is.

KARILYN: Keara, is there something you’d change about Thoren?

KEARA: Well, there is one thing. I mean, I know this is just a dragon characteristic and he can’t help it, but occasionally he burps and sets the drapes on fire.

THOREN: Keara, I can’t believe you’d say that on here.

KEARA: I’m sorry, but it’s true. The poor drapes are looking rather threadbare.

KARILYN: Oh my. Well, I’m sure every relationship has issues.

KEARA: It’s all good. I wanted new drapes anyway.

KARILYN: Ok then. Is there anything else either of you would like to say before we close?

THOREN: I’d like to tell your readers thank you for listening to us today and I hope you enjoy our story.

KEARA: I echo his thoughts.

KARILYN: I appreciate your time with us today and hope you have a good journey home.

BLURBIn a world where men can become dragons, Thoren is one of the most powerful.
